ResponsibilitiesPosition Overview:A lab technician collects and analyzes various water samples, prescribes chemical additions to various systems based on analysis and guidelines established by the plant chemist.Prepares and performs required analysis and calculations on coal samples.Operates, calibrates and performs routine maintenance on chemical analysis instrumentation.Prepares chemical mixtures used for test applications; performs non-water analysis on equipment in and out of service as required; prepares and maintains necessary reports; and performs other tasks assigned.Inspect and maintain plant fire extinguishers.RequirementsApplicant must have the following academic requirements. PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. A "C" grade or better in each of the listed courses is required to satisfy the academic requirements. Prior experience in utility plant maintenance and instrumentation is helpful.Must have completed required courses (Examples are from University of Utah)Chemistry 1210: General Chemistry - 4 semester hoursChemistry 1230: General Chemistry 1 Lab - 1 semester hourChemistry 1220: General Chemistry 2 - 4 semester hoursChemistry 1240: General Chemistry 2 Lab - 1 semester hourMathematics 1050: College Algebra - 4 semester hoursThese courses will be the standard against which courses taken at other colleges will be measured. If courses taken at other colleges are accepted by the committee as transfer credit for these listed classes, then those courses taken at other colleges satisfy these educational requirements.
